A woman was struck and killed by a mini school bus in Kew Gardens early this morning.

The small bus was turning from Kew Gardens Road onto 82nd Avenue around 6:43 a.m. when it  struck and killed 58-year-old Kew Gardens resident Elise Hellinger, police say. Three children, a bus matron and a driver were onboard the bus, but none of the passengers were injured.

Hellinger, who had injuries to her head and body, was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are investigating the incident.
