A woman was struck and killed by a mini school bus in Kew Gardens early this morning.
The small bus was turning from Kew Gardens Road onto 82nd Avenue around 6:43 a.m. when it struck and killed 58-year-old Kew Gardens resident Elise Hellinger, police say. Three children, a bus matron and a driver were onboard the bus, but none of the passengers were injured.
Hellinger, who had injuries to her head and body, was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are investigating the incident.
The private charter bus is owned by Logan Bus Company.

The driver was not arrested. This is gross negligence, and needs further coverage as to why the driver wasn’t arrested. Logan bus company has HUNDREDS of speed violations and 36 crashes reported to federal agency that monitors them. Plus, they operate under many popular names.
