A man has been arrested for fatally shooting a 51-year-old woman at her Ozone Park home Wednesday, police said.

Giuseppe Canzani, a 41-year-old Howard Beach resident, allegedly walked up to the victim’s 94-59 109th Ave. home at around 2:30 p.m., knocked on the door and then fired three rounds at Anna Torres when she answered.

Torres was shot in the head by one of the bullets. EMS arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Two of Torres’ family members were in the house when she was shot, according to NYPD Deputy Inspector Jerry O’Sullivan. They were not injured in the incident.

Canzani fled the scene in a black Chevy Traverse. He then drove himself to the 106th Precinct at around 3:30 p.m. and gave himself up outside the stationhouse.

Canzani placed a firearm on the sidewalk and then allowed himself to be handcuffed by two officers who were out front.

O’Sullivan said that police have yet to determine whether Canzani and Torres knew one another, and were not sure of the motive. He said that Torres’ son works for the NYPD but did not suspect that had anything to do with the shooting.

Police have charged Canzani with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
