Affordable housing lottery opens in Kew Gardens, rent starts at $1,522 a month

Jan. 30, 2024 By Ethan Marshall A total of 13 affordable units are up for grabs at the Metropolitan Senior Apartments in Kew Gardens, with monthly rents ranging from $1,522-$1,937. The affordable units are part of an 8-story mixed-use building at 132-77 Metropolitan Ave. In total there will be 40 residences in the building, with 27 being market rate. The city has opened a lottery for the 13 affordable units. Two of them are studio, eight are one-bedroom and three are two-bedroom. Rents drop in NYC for first time in eight months: report

Jan. 26, 2024 By Ethan Marshall The median rent price for one-bedroom and two-bedroom units in New York City both went down from December 2023 to January 2024, marking the first time since May that these prices went down month-over-month, according to a report by the real estate firm Zumper. The median rent for one-bedroom units in New York City decreased 2.9% from $4,161 in December 2023 to $4,040 in January 2024. During the 28-day period from Dec. 25 to Jan. 21, the number of reported rapes went down 20% in northern Queens, from 15 reported cases last year to 12 this year.
