Dec. 10, 2020 By Michael Dorgan

Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot a man near a public school in Kew Gardens Hills last week and then fled the scene in an SUV.

The alleged perpetrator, who was driving a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, pulled up alongside a 24-year-old man who was walking in the vicinity of 71st Avenue and 150th Street and shot him. The suspect and victim knew one another and it was part of an ongoing dispute.

The incident, which took place on Dec. 1 at around 9 p.m., unfolded when the suspect pulled over to the side of the road, got out of the vehicle and approached the man with a handgun. The alleged perpetrator then demanded that the victim get into the jeep, police said.

When the victim turned to run away, the suspect shot him once in the buttocks, police said. The incident took place near P.S. 165.

The shooter then got back into the driver’s seat of the SUV and fled the scene northbound on 71st Avenue, cops said.

The victim was treated at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens and has since been released.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black mask over his face, gloves and all-black clothing.

Police released an image of the vehicle used in the attack.
