Police are searching for a man who punched a 63-year-old woman in the face inside a Kew Gardens subway station Wednesday.

The suspect approached the woman who was standing on the platform at the Kew Gardens–Union Turnpike station at around 8:30 p.m. before striking her in the face, according to police.

The man then fled the station on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

The victim suffered facial fractures from the blow and was transported by EMS to Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital with her injuries.

Police released CCTV footage of the suspect immediately after the incident.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this male is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

Perhaps it is time to return to the good old days when a transit police officer was assigned to ride each train. This, along with installation of security cameras on trains and stations might help to reduce both vandalism and crime.

All of the politicians who are complaining about the cops’ behavior, what about all of those who are committing about 99% of the crimes in this city? Or doesn’t that matter that innocent people are being attacked, thrown off platform, sucker punched just by getting out of a car or going into a store by packs of animals? Maybe if one of their loved ones got hurt they would care. I’m not racist. I judge people by their actions not by anything else.
