Regal Cinemas And Asian Restaurants About to Open in Flushing’s Tangram Development

Several new businesses have recently opened — or are set to open — inside a Flushing mega-development as the city bounces back from the pandemic.

Two cafés, a gym, a movie theater and a Japanese retail store are among the new and incoming tenants inside Tangram, a 1.2 million-square-foot mixed-use development at the corner of College Point Boulevard and 39th Avenue in downtown Flushing.

Many of the businesses inside the development faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but are now beginning to open.

For instance, Cuppa Tea, a Hong Kong-style café serving milk teas, egg waffles and other authentic drinks and food items, is now open at 37-12 Prince St.

It will soon be joined by another café, machi machi, which will offer Taiwanese treats, bubble teas, lattes and global snacks. Machi machi is set to open this fall.

Later this month, a state-of-the-art 4DX movie theater, Regal Cinemas, will open in the Tangram. It will be the first new movie theater to open in Flushing in 35 years and Queens’ first 4DX theater — equipped with motion-enabled chairs and simulated weather effects. Doors are expected to open in mid-October.

The next tenant to open in the Tangram will be Orangetheory, a chain gym that combines cardio workouts with functional strength training. It is set to open in November. The gym will be the first Orangetheory location in the country to offer fitness classes in both Mandarin and English.

Lastly, MINISO, a Japanese-inspired lifestyle product retailer that offers design-driven homeware, stationery and beauty products and toys for less than $10 each, will open early next year.

The shops join a host of other tenants inside the new Tangram development. A four-star hotel, beer garden and several popular Asian restaurants have all signed leases within the mixed-use development.

The Tangram also features two residential towers, an office tower, additional retail space and a 24,000-square-foot food hall.
