Queens College closed its campus today after a staff member tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The staff member works in the college’s Rosenthal Library and was last on campus on Tuesday, March 10, according to a statement released Sunday by Queens College. The staff member is asymptomatic.

In-person classes at the college — and all SUNY and CUNY schools — have been shut down for the remainder of the semester, but the campus will reopen after today’s closure.

Only essential personnel is expected on campus, Queens College Interim President William Tramontano said.

The college buildings where the infected library worker visited will be deep cleaned today.

The college is also working to notify individuals who may have work with or near him.

Because the library worker remains asymptomatic, the risk to the college community is low, Tramontano said.
