The New York City Parks Department is calling for proposals for a bicycle rental program at Flushing Meadows Corona Park and Forest Park.

The department issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development, operation and maintenance of bike rental stations on Thursday.

The Parks Department is also seeking proposals for similar bike rental stations in Little Bay Park, Alley Pond Park and Highland Park.

“From scenic waterfront parks to destination greenways, Queens is the ideal setting for cyclists to exercise and connect with nature,” Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver said in a statement. “We encourage prospective operators to respond to this RFP in order to provide New Yorkers and visitors with more opportunities to experience our parks via bicycle.”

All proposals should be submitted electronically no later than Thursday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m.

Original hard copy proposals can be submitted to the Parks Revenue Office on Wednesday, Dec. 9 and Thursday, Dec. 10 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. if an electronic submission isn’t possible.

The Parks Department is hosting a virtual meeting about the RFP on Monday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. via WebEx and phone. Those interested in submitting a proposal for the bike rental program are encouraged to attend.
