New York Pops to play at Forest Hills Stadium June 8

April 18, 2017 Staff Report

The New York Pops will bring some of the most classic film scores to life in Forest Hills this summer.

The orchestra, which specializes in playing a wide variety of popular music, will put on its third annual show at Forest Hills Stadium on June 8 at 7:30 p.m.

The show will feature the music of legendary composer John Williams, who composed the scores to some of the most iconic films of the last few decades, including Jurassic Park, Jaws, Star Wars, E.T., and the first three Harry Potter films, among many others..

“Playing at Forest Hills Stadium has really been a dream come true,” said Music Director Steven Reineke. “The orchestra sounds great in this beautiful venue, and watching the sun set over the top of the stadium while we’re looking out at a crowd of fans is one of our favorite summer traditions. Get ready for an evening of music that will transport you from a galaxy far, far away to a park full of dinosaurs, from Civil War-era Washington to shark-infested waters off the coast of New England. It’s going to be a blast!”

Through the orchestra’s “Kids in the Balcony” program, more than 1,500 Queens children and their families will have the chance to attend the concert for free.

Tickets for the family-friendly concert go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, with prices ranging from $22.50 to $102.50, and family ticket packages are also available.
