A Fresh Meadows man has been indicted for the shooting death of his mother’s boyfriend that took place last month in an apartment at the NYCHA Pomonok Houses in Flushing.

Desean McCain, 22, was indicted on murder charges last Wednesday for the fatal shooting of his mother’s 47-year-old boyfriend inside his mother’s apartment at around 7 p.m. on Nov. 2.

According to the charges, McCain got into a dispute with Anthony Ragler inside the apartment located near the intersection of Parsons Boulevard and Jewel Avenue. Following the argument, McCain pulled out a gun and shot Ragler in the head and torso.

The shooting took place in front of McCain’s mother and her 9-year-old grandson.

Ragler was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. McCain fled the scene and was apprehended by police a week later.

“As alleged, this domestic dispute turned deadly when the defendant, in possession of an illegal firearm, fired the weapon multiple times at the victim,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. “The dependent will now be held accountable in court.”

McCain faces up to 25-years-to-life in prison if convicted.
