Kew Gardens man struck and killed by minivan on 120th Street

A Kew Gardens man was struck and killed by a minivan while crossing a neighborhood street Sunday.

The NYPD responded to a 911 call at around 10:30am that a pedestrian had been hit on 120th Street, near 85th Avenue.

When the police arrived they discovered Christopher Swanson, 71, on the street with trauma to his body, police said. He was taken to Jamaica Medical Center where he died of his injuries Tuesday.

According to police, Swanson had been hit by a 38-year-old man who was driving a 2015 Honda Odyssey in reverse.

The driver stayed on the scene and an investigation is ongoing.
