The Bed Bath & Beyond in Flushing will close by the end of the year along with more than 60 other locations across the country as the company restructures after COVID-19 delivered a blow to the business.
The Flushing store inside the Shops at Skyview mall, located at 40-24 College Point Blvd., will close by the end of 2021, according to a CNN report. It is the only Bed Bath & Beyond store in Queens slated to close.
The retailer announced in July that it would permanently shutter 200 stores nationwide over the next two years. The chain also said it would eliminate 2,800 jobs in an effort to bounce back from COVID-19 and mandatory closures.
Bed Bath & Beyond told CNN that the store closures are necessary “to create a sustainable, durable business.”
The news comes after another chain store, Century 21, announced it was closing all 13 of its locations nationwide, including one in Rego Park located at 61-35 Junction Blvd.
The discount designer clothing store filed for bankruptcy after the pandemic and closures devastated its sales.
