Chase to Close its Queens Blvd. Branch in Forest Hills

Jan. 4, 2018 By Tara Law

The Chase Bank branch at 100-26 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills will close in March, a bank representative has confirmed.

The branch will be consolidated with the Chase Bank branch at 104-17 Queens Blvd. The two branches are about 0.3 miles apart.

The branch was “redundant,” wrote Erich Timmerman of JPMorgan Chase & Co. in an email.

“Often times redundancy leads us to consolidate branches, and we are continuously reviewing our footprint to make sure we’re setup to best suit our customers’ need and behavior,” he wrote.

The bank closed a branch in Astoria last month.

Chase has moved to close bank branches in recent years to reduce costs as customers have moved toward online and mobile banking. In 2015, the bank announced it planned to close 300 branches— 5 percent of the total— over two years.

The bank currently has 83 branches in Queens.

That was my first bank in New York, way back when it was Barclays and I lived at Thornton Place.

They should close the other branch and move to this one. This space is bigger, right outside of a train station so more convenient, and in my option gets used more than the other branch. This is going to be incredibly annoying/inconvenient for me and those I know who rely on this branch.

Mayor Adams marks one year of ‘Padlock to Protect’ with pizza and progress in Queens

Mayor Eric Adams marked the one-year anniversary of the launch of the city’s “Operation Padlock to Protect” initiative at a pizzeria on the Rego Park and Middle Village border on Wednesday and touted the significant progress in shutting down more than 1,400 illegal smoke shops across the five boroughs and seizing more than $95 million in illegal product since last May.

“The city was fed up. We heard it at every town hall. This time last year, there were thousands of illegal smoke shops plaguing our city with unlicensed cannabis endangering our children,” Adams said. “One year later, we are proud to announce that we have turned the tide. Thanks to the tireless efforts by our city’s law enforcement officers, we’ve padlocked thousands of illegal shops and created safer streets for children and families. But we’re not stopping there.”
