Banco Popular to open branch on Austin Street

A new bank will be opening on Austin Street this summer where the women’s retail store Prima Donna was located.

Banco Popular, the large Puerto Rican-based bank, is opening a branch at 71-24 Austin Street, with the institution planning to open it on August 14, according to Greg Demas, a bank spokesman.

The opening of the Forest Hills branch is part of the corporation’s push into Queens. Its hub branch in Jackson Heights is undergoing a renovation and it will be opening a new branch in Long Island City as well.
