84-year-old dead after crashing car into utility pole on Metropolitan Ave.

An 84-year-old woman was killed Friday when her car collided with a utility pole on Metropolitan Avenue, according to police.

The woman, who was driving a Ford Escort station wagon, struck the pole in front of 100-33 Metropolitan Avenue at around 12:30 pm.  She was transported to Jamaica Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The woman’s name has yet to be released.
