8-Story Mixed Use Building to Go Up on Queens Boulevard in Rego Park

A new eight-story mixed use building will go up along Queens Boulevard in Rego Park, according to building records.

Plans have been filed to build an 80-feet-tall building at 92-54 through 92-64 Queens Blvd., where the demolition of five retail stores and a billboard began in September.

The building will include 35 apartments, a rooftop recreational space and enclosed parking with 11 spaces for tenants. It will also have a daycare center and retail store on the ground floor, next to the residential lobby, according to the plans filed Friday.

The total square footage of the building will be 30,807 square feet with the majority of space designated for the residential units. There will be five apartments per floor, from floors two through eight.

The owner listed is Hai Keng Luo of Quincy Realty LLC.

In December 2018, Luo filed a similar plan for an eight-story building to be erected at the site, but it included plans for a healthcare facility instead of a daycare center on the first floor.

The property was bought for $9.65 million in August 2018, according to city finance records.

Known as the FARE Act (Fairness in Apartment Rentals), the legislation passed with a veto-proof majority of 42-8, despite opposition from Republicans and conservative Democrats.
