The city will host a free concert at Forest Hills Stadium next month as part of a series of concerts celebrating New York City’s comeback from the pandemic.
The concert is one of five — one in each borough — that will be free to the public during “NYC Homecoming Week” from Aug. 14 through Aug. 22, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday.
The Queens show will be held on Friday, Aug. 20 at Forest Hills Stadium. Concerts in the Bronx, Staten Island and Brooklyn will be held earlier in the week.
The concerts are being curated by Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM) and will feature a range of genres such as hip hop, Latin, freestyle, dance, R&B, techno and funk. The lineups have not yet been announced.
The final concert — which was previously announced — will be in Manhattan on Aug. 21 on the Great Lawn in Central Park. Paul Simon, Jennifer Hudson and Bruce Springsteen are among the musicians who have announced that they will be performing.
“Five iconic extraordinary concerts — one in each borough — the summer of NYC is going to be truly extraordinary,” de Blasio said.

Super spreader! How can NYC do this? CNN. why r u supporting this?
Super-spreader event 2021. Thanks DeBozo.
So much for an all inclusive line-up that the entire family can enjoy. Free concert for who? Rap fans?
The line-up for the FH stadium does not appear to be family friendly or for a broad audience. It appears to be concentrated in one specific genre and the artists involved have lyrics which are not for most individuals or children. So much for a “free concert” for families to do something together in the area.
Vaccinated or Un-vaccinated this is bad for the area.
HORRORS!
No thought for the surrounding neighborhoods that will be trampled?
I am a resident of Forest Hills who received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and I went to see Brandi Carlile in concert on July 23. Knowing that the concert was at an outdoor venue I bought myself a ticket. This was my first concert since the start of the pandemic and I had a wonderful time. It was so nice to see the stadium come back to life.
Nothing like a free concert in a concentrated arena to turn FH/KG/RP back into a hot spot. Move it to Barclay’s or MSG.
I’ve been wanting to see a concert at Forest Hills Stadium for a few years now. It’d be great if they had some rock music in the lineup too
Praying all will be safe. I am happy For all of us. 3
I have been robbed by covid 19
Comeback? What? With all the selfish folks not getting vaccinated and endangering all of society?
I hope it is a vaccinated only concert and I hope Eric Clapton stays home.
You are aware that even people who received the shot are still contracting and transmitting the virus. Right?
Will any Reggae artists be featured at any of these concerts?
Cancel them virus rising.
Having a concert and attracting large numbers of people in one space, even if it is outdoors. Is known as a Super spreader. Do you think the drunk revelers will be wearing masks. This is not a celebration. This is an invitation to the Covid 19 Variant, to come and get me!
Unfortunately the idea of a large crowded concert in a residential area is foolish at this time. The Covid 19 Delta Variant is raging. Even with vaccinations people are still getting sick. Too many people have not gotten vaccinated. Many are lying and claiming to be vaccinated when they are actually not! Why give the Delta Variant an opportunity to spread more amongst people that will be packed in on top of each other like sardines for hours. The party goers will not be wearing masks and will many will likely be drinking before, during, and after the concert affecting their behavior. That’s exactly what Deblasio wants for people to spend money. That’s all he is concerned about, not the health and welfare of his city’s residents. Thrilled that Deblasio is on his way out. We can not be rid of him soon enough.
Covid is going strong and NY want to have thousands of people gather and spread the virus. There are a lot of people that don’t want to get vaccinated for what ever reason. That is a fact! So look out hospital workers their on there way to you!!!!!
I want to get (2) TKTS for FREE CONCERT our Mayor is promoting at Forest Hills Stadium
In August 2921. Please reply with information to acquire tickets. It will be highly appreciated.
Place your bets on the over/under on the amount of people shot and the fights that will happen.
