A homeless man was fatally stabbed at an Elmhurst subway station last month– and the police announced Saturday that they have made an arrest.

Mark Albano, 34, was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, the NYPD said. Albano lives in Elmhurst – less than a mile from where the stabbing occurred.

The unidentified victim was stabbed in the upper chest. Authorities found him on the southbound platform of the Grand Avenue-Newtown M and R station just before 6 a.m. on April 23 and brought him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A spokesperson for the NYPD said Sunday that his identity had not yet been released. WABC reported that the victim, who was in his 40s or 50s, was homeless.
