A person was fatally struck by a Long Island Rail Road train near the Forest Hills station Tuesday morning.

The individual was hit by the 9:49 a.m. train from Hicksville to Penn Station – a short distance west of the station – at around 10:25 a.m., according to the MTA and FDNY.

First responders pronounced the individual dead at the scene, the FDNY said.

The victim’s identity has not been released and an investigation into the incident is underway, an MTA spokesperson said.

The train was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station at 10:33 a.m. and there were around 50 passengers on board at the time of the incident.

The incident train was able to continue westbound at about 11:30 a.m.

Westbound LIRR trains were forced to bypass Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside although the Port Washington service at Woodside was not affected.
