Rock band My Morning Jacket will play at the Forest Hills Stadium for the first time ever this summer.
The band announced yesterday that it would be playing its only New York show of its tour in Forest Hills on July 15th, with blues singer Gary Clark Jr. opening the show.
Originally from Kentucky, My Morning Jacket became famous in the mid 2000s for their rock and country sound. The tour this summer will promote its newest album, “The Waterfall.”
Singer, guitarist and songwriter for the band Jim James described the sound of the album as “the sound of the page turning and not being sure what’s coming next,” and added that is what his life feels like at the moment as well.
The Forest Hills concert is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., with tickets ranging from $63.50 to $73.50 according to the venue website.
Tickets go on sale on January 27th, though presale for the band’s fan club begins today.
The summer lineup at the stadium also includes The xx on May 19, Sigur Rós on June 17, and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers on July 26 and 27.
