Man Stabbed Girlfriend and Her 6-Year-Old Daughter on Thanksgiving Day in Kew Gardens Hills: NYPD

Dec. 2, 2019 By Kristen Torres

A man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend and her 6-year-old daughter in Kew Gardens Hills Thursday faces attempted murder charges for the brutal knife attack, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.

Steven Bagu, 30, is charged with attempted murder, assault, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to Acting Queens DA John Ryan, Bagu’s girlfriend woke up around 4 a.m. to the sound of her daughter screaming.

She ran into the living room and found Bagu standing over her 6-year-old daughter, who was bleeding from a stab wound to the neck.

When she attempted to help her daughter, Bagu grabbed the woman and stabbed her in the throat, according to Ryan.

Bagu then held the woman and her child in the apartment for two hours until he fell asleep. The victims then escaped to a neighbor’s apartment for help.

Bagu was arrested at the scene, according to Ryan. He now faces up to 25 years in prison.

“This was a heinous act of violence that put both victims at grave risk,” Ryan said. “The defendant is in custody and now faces spending decades in prison as punishment for his alleged criminal actions.”

He should get life with no chance of parole. Anybody that hurts a child should be put in solitary.
