A 19-year-old was slashed inside the Union Turnpike – Kew Gardens subway station yesterday morning, police said.
The teen boy was walking down a staircase in the station when he inadvertently bumped into a man at about 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. The two got into an argument which escalated when the unidentified man took out a knife, according to law enforcement.
He slashed the 19-year-old on the right hand and upper left arm before feeling the scene. The victim was taken to New York Downtown Hospital in stable condition, cops said.
Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this male is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, on Twitter @NYPDTips.

I have live in KeW Gardens for the past 15 years and I have never before seen the amount of mentally ill and homeless beggars here in this amount before. We all know crime is up but there is no police presence, what gives? The city want the tax money of middle earners but does not supply the protection from the mentally ill that can’t be housed because of lousy lawyers. Please fix this problem in the subways across the entire nyct system. Thanks
The end result of voting demorat. Congratulations are in order
How will madam DA and borough president Melinda Katz will address this? Reward the criminals with gift cards, free education and council. Thank you for voting her in the office!
Please add more transit police in the stations between 71st & Union Tpke.
There has been an uptick in incidents along the QB stations.
Great idea, but the uber liberal are already complaining that increased police presence in the subways is targeting black, brown and low income people! I guess that paying your fare should be looked at as more of a “suggested donation” if you can do it, unbelievable! Yet these are the type of people who mobilize and actually get out and vote and are totally destroying the city.
Here we go again with the thumbs down “people”- yeah ok, we should all be in favor of NOT paying for using mass transit. How do you expect the system to function and get upgrades??
I urge recent victims of the Mayor’s homeless shelter to file a suit against the city.
You don’t solve a homeless problem by moving mentally ill men into family neighborhoods.
We need more police officers in the stations along Queens Blvd. Especially the stops between 67th and Union. So many incidents lately.
ansolutely!!!including 73rd drive subway station
This station has always been sketchy for as long as I can remember but over the last few years and even more so since the shelter it has become terrible and dangerous. There are incidents in this station on a near daily basis. We need more officers in these stations.
Yep, safest big city!! The inmate number keeps going down and down! Oh, and to the “people” who give this kind of post a thumbs down, feel free to do so since we know how much you adore pandering to criminals and destroying the quality of life here.
Sorry, but not sorry – increases in Kew Gardens crime, strictly stems from the homeless housing they’re providing near the courthouse…I’ve lived in the neighborhood for seven years, the amount of men lollygagging near Redwood/Starbucks, is insane.
