A Rego Park man was indicted today in Queens Criminal Court for murder and other charges for viciously stabbing his pregnant ex-girlfriend to death inside her Ridgewood apartment building last month.
Anthony Hobson, 48, will now face up to 25 years to life in prison for the brutal attack and murder of 35-year-old Jennifer Irigoyen.
“This is the absolute worst outcome of domestic violence,” said Chief Assistant District Attorney John M. Ryan in a statement. “The victim was stabbed repeatedly in her abdomen, neck and torso, subsequently killing her and the unborn child.”
Hobson allegedly attacked Irigoyen inside her Ridgewood apartment building on Feb. 3, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office. Around 1 a.m., Irigoyen was dragged from her third-floor apartment inside 60-80 Myrtle Ave. into the vestibule area of the building, where she was stabbed multiple times in the neck and stomach.
Irigoyen, who worked as a real estate broker, was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of the stabbing. She was later transported by EMS to Wyckoff Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Hobson turned himself in to police five days after the stabbing and was later charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence.
Hobson will return to Queens Criminal Court on May 22.
