A woman was killed and three people injured in a fire that broke out in a Rego Park apartment complex Saturday night.
The fire started at about 11:40 p.m. on the fifth floor at 87-30 62nd Ave., according to police.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke upon arrival and found Anna Latek, a 51-year-old resident, on the fifth floor suffering from smoke inhalation. She was transported to Elmhurst Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Three other people were taken to New York Presbyterian Queens formerly Booth Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation and are listed in stable condition.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
