Capital One has shuttered five of its Queens branches, including its locations in Kew Gardens and Flushing.
Capital One closed the branches at 120-32 Queens Blvd. in Kew Gardens and 70-09 Parsons Blvd. in Flushing on Sept 22. The bank also closed its locations in St. Albans, Glendale, Middle Village and Woodhaven.
A spokesperson for the company, Amanda Landers, said in a statement that Capital One notified customers back in June that their respective branch would be closing.
“This was a difficult decision and our bank leaders recognize the effect it has on our customers,” Landers said.
Landers said that the branches had closed in response to “changing customer preferences.”
Bank customers are increasingly relying on mobile and online forms of banking, and banks across the country have reduced the number of retail branches they maintain.
Prior to the closures, the company encouraged customers to visit their local branch to learn more about online and mobile banking and bill pay.
