NYPD: Man Attacks Parking Garage Attendant in Rego Park, Steals Car

Police are searching for a man who hit a parking garage attendant over the head with a gun and then stole a car in Rego Park on Saturday. 

The suspect went up to the attendant, a 59-year-old man, inside a parking garage at 92-77 Queens Blvd. at around 2:20 p.m. and asked the victim if he could take a car. The attendant said the no, according to police.

The suspect then pulled out a gun and told the attendant that he was taking a car.

The attendant then ran away, but the suspect chased him down and struck him on the head with the gun. He tried to drag the attendant back into the garage, but was unable to move him.

The suspect then went back into the garage and found a dark-colored four door Kia Sportage with the keys still inside. The suspect drove the car west on Queens Boulevard and disappeared.

Emergency responders treated the victim on scene for a head laceration.

The suspect is described as black and about 25 years

old. He is approximately 5 foot 7 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light colored du-rag, a white tank top red shorts, black socks, black slippers and a dark-colored backpack.
