South Ozone Park Man Killed in Crash Near Forest Hills Saturday

Police have released the identity of the 21-year-old man who was killed in the early hours Saturday morning after crashing his BMW into a loading bay at a Stop & Shop near Forest Hills.

Sylvon O’Connor, of South Ozone Park, was driving a 2013 BMW east on Union Turnpike at around 12:47 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, according to police. His BMW then veered off the road and went into the loading bay of the grocery store at 89-89 Union Turnpike and burst into flames.

Police discovered O’Connor unconscious and unresponsive. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police investigation is ongoing.

Amazon workers at other facilities across the country say they are prepared to join them to protest unfair labor practices after the IBT set a Dec. 15 deadline for Amazon to begin negotiations on a new agreement. The union was ignored.
