If you enjoy a wide variety of music and entertainment, along with enjoying quality food, the Queens area is the perfect place for enjoying all of the different forms of entertainment in New York City. From poetry to music, there is plenty to do and enjoy this weekend.

Friday, Feb. 9

 

Gamehaus Fridays

The Long Island City-based sports bar Gamehaus is hosting specialty food and drinks on Friday. (Gamehaus Sports Bar, 5-14 51st Ave., Long Island City. 5 p.m. Admission: varies with reservation).

Jam Friday Dance Hall Edition

Enjoy a Friday night party with a wide-variety of unique dancehall and reggae music. (Blend Lounge, 127-07 Atlantic Ave., South Richmond Hill. 10 p.m. Admission: $23.18).

HERE for NY: Eartheater, Vegyn, Underscores, RXKNephew +more

The Knockdown Center is hosting a concert supported by the HERE hyper-charity group. With musical performances by Eartheater, Vegyn, Underscores, RXKNephew and others. (Knockdown Center, 52-19 Flushing Ave., Maspeth. 6:30 p.m. Admission: $49.19).

Family Concert: Cubop to Hip-Hop

The Kupferberg Center is hosting an all- inclusive family concert showcasing Cubop and Hip-Hop. As implied, the concert is available for all ages. (Kupferberg Center for the Arts, 65-30 Kissena Blvd., Flushing. 3 p.m. Admission: $20).

One Funny Lisa Marie in Rockaway

Internet Comedian Lisa Marie returns to New York City as part of her “I’m Done With It” tour. (The Rockaway Hotel, 108-10 Rockaway Beach Dr., The Rockaways. 2 p.m. Admission: $35-$55).

Dirt Child Presents: Little Love Thing (A Poetry Reading) Upstairs at Bar Freda

Head to the Freda Bar to check out an ongoing poetry series “Little Love Thing,” provided by the Dirt Child group. Featuring the poetry of Sol Cabrini, Manal Kara, John Ling and many more. (Freda Bar, 801 Seneca Ave., Ridgewood. 3 p.m. Admission: Free).

E train rider beaten with a skateboard during attempted robbery, suspect remains at large a month later: NYPD

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a suspect who weaponized a skateboard to bludgeon an E train rider last month.

The attack went down during the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 16, as the 36-year-old victim was sitting on a southbound E approaching the Forest Hills–71st Avenue station at around 3 a.m. when a stranger approached. The intruder attempted to remove property from the victim’s pocket. The targeted rider began to record the older man with his cell phone. The stranger grabbed a skateboard from another rider and smashed the victim in his head, police said Tuesday.

Former FBI agent from Queens Village charged with possessing arsenals of illegal ghost guns: DA

A former FBI agent from Queens Village is criminally charged with possessing an arsenal of illegal ghost guns and a stockpile of ammunition after law enforcement raided his home and a storage unit in Port Washington, L.I.

Scott Chiang, 53, was arraigned Friday in Queens Criminal Court on a 242-count criminal complaint after the searches at the two locations uncovered 18 illegal firearms, including eight ghost guns and six assault weapons, as well as high-capacity magazines, ammo and gun manufacturing tools.
