New York & Company, a women’s clothing retailer, closed its Forest Hills location for good last week.
The company, which had operated a store at 71-40 Austin Street for the past decade, elected not to renew its lease which expires May 31, according to a spokeswoman.
“As part of the normal course of our business, we routinely evaluate the location of our stores and during that process we identify stores that we may choose to close or stores where our lease expires, “said New York & Company Spokesperson Angela Apoltio. “In recent months, we’ve also opened a number of stores as we constantly evaluate our real estate strategy.
The company, which has more than 500 stores nationwide, still has several in Queens. Stores can be found in Ridgewood, Astoria, Bayside and at the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst.
