Elmhurst Teacher at Special Needs School Arrested For Sex Crimes Involving Student

The police arrested a teacher at a special needs school in Elmhurst Friday for a number of sex crimes involving a student, according to the NYPD.

Leudis Espinal, 23, allegedly Facetimed a female student and then masturbated while she was on the phone.

He was arrested by officers at around 2 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Jr. school—a District 75 school located at 57-12 94th St. The school is for teenagers who are on the autism spectrum or have cognitive delays.

Espinal, a paraprofessional, had previously asked the student for her number. Paraprofessionals provide instruction under the supervision of a certified teacher.

He was charged with several sex crimes including disseminating indecent material to minors; acting in a manner injurious to a child; obscenity; and harassment

Espinal has been suspended by the New York City Dept. of Education.
